NorthcentralPA.com is a free, online, regional newspaper created by
Kolb Net Works. Launched Sept. 21, 2009, NorthcentralPA.com is staffed
by KNW writers, editors, artists and web designers.
NorthcentralPA.com utilizes an all-volunteer crew. Most of the writers
and photographers contributing are professionals who have worked in
journalism for decades and who realize that the decline in print
newspapers doesn’t mean there is not a need for responsible reporting
and accountability.
Some of our contributors, however, are citizen journalists and
photographers. Virtually any citizen of Northcentral Pennsylvania, and
beyond, is welcome to send content and become part of our team.
“If, and sadly when, the local newspaper fails, we want to be there to
keep the residents of Northcentral Pennsylvania informed, keep them
current on news and events in the region,” said Kathy Kolb, president
and founder of Kolb Net Works and NorthcentralPA.com. “Newspapers are
struggling, no doubt about it. Several large newspapers have closed
their doors. Readership is down. Even before the Internet, readership
was declining and of course, since the Internet and its wide adoption
by people, newspapers are struggling. People want their news for free.
They don’t want a 24-hour news cycle, they want a 10-minute news
cycle.”
NorthcentralPA.com is growing rapidly and each day we add
entertaining, educational and newsworthy stories, videos, podcasts,
photographs and other elements. From news to obituaries, from movie
reviews to sports, NorthcentralPA.com is a comprehensive clearinghouse
for local and regional news and events. Visit today and see for
