MARCH 2003

<<back

Hello Kolb Net Works clients and friends,
So far we are 3 for 3 for getting the newsletter out every month in 2003! This month (further down in the newsletter) I share with you some tips I’ve learned while preparing our company newsletter that may help you with your own.

Internet Marketing:
I will be presenting a seminar on Internet Marketing, Friday, March 21, 8:00 AM at the Williamsport / Lycoming Chamber of Commerce as part of their Technology Education series. I expect to cover topics including Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Getting Links and Email Newsletters. We’ll also look at web site traffic statistics. The cost is $7 for chamber members, $10 otherwise. It’d be great to see a couple of you folks there! Call the Chamber at 570-326-1971 for more info, or register online at: http://www.thechamber.net/cgi-bin/foxweb.dll/wlx/cal/wlxprofile?caleid=760&cc=WPLYCOM

Redesigned web site launch:
www.rsalberts.com – R.S. Alberts Company is one of America’s most resourceful, full service, multifaceted custom molders using epoxy, urethane and silicone as mold making compounds. Since 1963, the Alberts Company has been manufacturing tooling, molds and custom-molded parts including some really cool stuff like roller coaster seat padding,  cordless drill casings and instrument cases. See their redesigned web site for more product pictures.

Ecommerce news:
www.martysbicycles.com Marty’s Bicycles ecommerce site has gone live using the Smart Etailing engine. This engine fuels several large bike related sites and has some 16,000 products available through it. If you need a new bike, or just a single part, visit Marty’s site or give him a call at 546-3142.

Email Newsletters:
Here are some tips that are working for me -

  1. Establish a place to keep news and links during the month as you read your email and surf. This way, when you get a moment to work on the newsletter, you’ll have content already to use.
  2. Check all your hyperlinks before sending.
  3. Send your newsletter draft to at least one person before sending it out to your email list. We all make mistakes, do your best to catch them before they go out.
  4. On the flip side of that though, don’t send the newsletter out to more than 2 or 3 people. If your company has a sign off list, then follow your internal guidelines. Having too many people proof your work will hold up your publish date and possibly halt your effort altogether. If you wait until the newsletter is perfect, it probably won’t get sent.
  5. Consider sending out an email to your co-workers advising them of your publish date and asking for their input and content.
  6. A good time to update your email address list for your newsletter is when you do billing. Make sure everyone you send a bill to gets your newsletter.
  7. An email newsletter takes up bandwidth proportionate to the number of email addresses you are sending to and the size of the newsletter. Send your newsletter out before office hours or at the end of the day to reduce the chances of clogging your Internet connection as they go out.

As you start your email newsletter address list, please include my email address so I can see how you’re doing.

Sincerely,

-----
