Hello Kolb Net Works Clients and Friends,
Here in Pennsylvania, the sun is shining longer each day and my garden is taking shape. Onions, spinach and lettuce are already in and growing, while the snow pea seeds were planted yesterday. My father taught me from my early days that in order to reap results, the ground must be made ready, seeds sown and the garden tended. Marketing and business operates much the same way, doesn't it?

Email Newsletter Tips:
A major purpose of this newsletter is to encourage our clients to consider using email in their Internet marketing plans. What information do you have to share with your clients this month?

Internet Marketing Tip:
Link text is the text contained in your hyperlinks to other web pages, on yours or other web site pages. This link text is examined by some search engines and is used in determining keyword relevancy on pages, thereby influencing search engine ranking results. Link text has been growing in importance.

You may notice we're changing the wording of links on our client web sites from "Web Solutions by Kolb Net Works" to "Web Development by Kolb Net Works" or "Ecommerce Development by Kolb Net Works". Why? Because as we updated our keyword focus recently, we decided that few people search for "web solutions" but they do search for "web development" and "web design" and "ecommerce development". We're also making the complete phrase a hyperlink in order to improve the text link usage.

We've updated many of the links to clients on our web site and now instead of simply using your company name in our text links to you we are using a longer phrase with your keywords. This helps your site ranking, too.

What's your link text? Where are you using it? Can its usage be improved? Call me for more information on this important topic: 570-326-2888.

Search Engine Rankings and advertising are obviously just one part of the web site success picture. If your site has prices that are too high in the marketplace to obtain sales, the best search engine referrals will not help. Also very important is how you handle leads generated by your web site. Does your staff ask all sales leads where they found out about your company?

Consider: Is your web site ready for Summer? Visitors may be looking for seasonal items. Call us if you need updates made to your web site.

On Site Marketing Tip: Do you have a sign showing your home page screen image and web address in your business where walk in customers can see it? Clients - Contact us for a free Word or PDF document featuring your web site that you can print out and frame!

This month you can listen to our Search Engine Optimization radio spot on KISS-FM during the morning show. You can also give a listen at http://www.kolbnetworks.com/news.asp. That's Lou Kolb and Carlos Ramos doing the voice work in the main part, and Mike Yoder from Clear Channel Communications adding the announcer tag.

E-commerce Tips:
Consider adding a "Best Sellers" list to your home page to highlight what your top selling products are. This can create excitement on your page and help educate your viewer about your top products. Make sure if you do this that the list changes at least monthly. See http://www.parkseed.com - they feature a best sellers list on their homepage and also on their category pages.

What do you do to turn a one time customer into a repeat customer? One thing to consider is including a promotional premium in your first shipment, as a gift. Make sure it contains your web site name and address on it so they are reminded of your site.

Janway, a client of ours, sells all sorts of promotional specialties that would work well for this. Including inexpensive key chains as low as 500 for $130 ($.24 each plus setup fee) or nice metal ones for 150 for $270 ($1.45 plus setup fee).   Call and ask for  Crystal Hughes 494-1239 or 800-877-5242 ext 120. See their keychain page at: http://www.janway.com/keychains.htm
